Happy Holidays!

The holiday season has officially begun!! I haven't had much time for scrapping since I have been working a lot on getting things ready for my holiday arts and craft show that is this weekend. This will be my first craft show with my polymer creations, I hope people like them. Here are a few things I have gotten done over the past week.

There is also a new sketch up over at Pink Sketches. Here is the layout I created using Basic Grey's Wassill line.

Back 2 Blogging

It's been a little while since I have blogged. I have been busy and working alot, and not had very much scrapbooking or crafting time. I have been trying to work on things for the upcoming craft show, but haven't accomplished much.
I did take some time to conquer 3 Martha Stewart recipes. I made chocolate glazed pumpkin cookies, cranberry scones, and vanilla vanilla cupcakes. They all actually turned out really really good. The cupcakes were hands down the BEST I have ever tasted. I only took pictures of the scones, but I plan on making some more of the cupcakes soon and will take some pictures. The scones are wrapped in food tissue paper from Martha Stewart's line at Michael's. And if your not a fan of fresh cranberries, I made one batch with about 3/4 cup of chocolate chips instead of cranberries. DELICIOUS!

Miss. Perfect

I had a great time working on Sketch #13 for Pink Sketches. The sketch was sponsored byMaking Memories. They sent each of us designers a ton of great products to use for our layouts, and I thought one of my Martha Stewart pictures would be great to use with them.
So here is my take on Sketch #13 using all Making Memories products.

I also took a stab at making some Christmas cards. These are my first cards ever! Now that I kind of have the feel for it, I can't wait to make more.

Glitz and Glitter

I have been glittering ornaments like a mad woman over the past week, getting ready for the craft show. I've done quite a few, and decided that spray adhesive is a lot faster than regular glue. Here are some pictures of my progress. All glitter is by Martha Stewart. I highly recommend it, it is very fine and looks amazing! Check back tomorrow for a new layout, and some Christmas cards. Have a great weekend.

Election Day!

Today should turn out to be a day of exciting events and surprises. I have the day off of work and plan on spending it at home with CNN on, cleaning my room, and crafting polymer clay ornaments for the craft show that is coming up next month. I'll try to post some pictures later today of my progress.
Hope everyone gets out and Rocks the Vote!

Pink Sketch #12

There is another great sketch over at Pink Sketches. This sketch is sponsored by Riff Raff Designs, and if you participate you get a chance to win your own Riff Raff Tree. So head over toPink Sketches and join in on the fun, I am sure you have a ton of great Halloween pictures you need to scrap!!

Here is my take on Sketch #12. I used Pink Paislee's Vintage Moon Collection, which I love. Some chipboard letters from Joann's (not sure of the manufacturer), and of course my Riff Raff Tree.

Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Halloween. Unfortunently I have to work, but I will be dressed as a butterfly passing out candy to kids at work so I should have some fun. I have been working on a ton of new craft projects.....new layouts, christmas cards, chipboard owls, polymer clay, and tag snowmen just to name a few. I still haven't taken pics of all of them but I'm working on it.

Here's a picture of a chipboard owl I made. Chipboard is from Maya Road and the paper is from Pink Paislee's Vintage Moon Collection.

I got a ton of emails about Martha??? How was it?? Is she nice??? What did she say?? All I can say is she lived up to every expectation that I had. Complete perfection and class. She was incredibly nice, greeted me with a huge hello. I gave her a snowman that I made, she thanked me, and said it was cute, then put it next to her cell phone. I told her that I can't cook a thing and I hope this book helps. She said, "oh it will be perfect for you." Here is a pic of me (actually the back of me) meeting Martha. I have so say she looks pretty happy to see me don't you think? lol.

There are no words............

All I can say is she is just as wonderful in person as she is on TV. Incredibly nice, beautiful and perfect! Love ya Martha!!!

She is having a book signing at a local book store so I'm going to go and check it out and say "hello" to the queen of all things crafty. Check back later tomorrow for updates and hopefully some pictures if all goes well.

I have also been working on a TON of new stuff I just have to take some pictures of it. So check back soon and have a great day.

T.G.I.F.

The week is finally coming to an end. Whew. And I actually have the ENTIRE weekend off of work. I am so excited. Hopefully I can get some scrapping done and need to start making things for my craft show in December. I have some great ideas for some clay trees, and a ton of other cute Christmas stuff I just have to take the time to sit down and try to make some stuff.

Have you all signed up for Jessica Sprague's free class?? I did. I just have to get my supplies for the class. It is only a few things. I'm excited to see what we will create. I am always up for a challenge and some great inspiration.

Have you seen these adorable owl stamps by Kelly Panacci??? Oh my gosh could they be any more adorable? I think these would be great for making cards or on an adorable layout. I don't know what my obsession is with owls. But it seems like I want everyone that I lay my eyes on. You can get them over at Two Peas.

Have a wonderful Friday. Hopefully I will have some updates over the weekend with some new creations!

Christmas Scrapbooking Must Haves

Christmas is literally around the corner. I know it's hard to believe! This is my first Christmas as a scrapbooker and I am literally dying looking at these amazing Christmas lines that are coming out. I can not wait to get all of them!

I just heard that my LSS got the new Basic Grey Wassail line in. This line is not your typical red and green Christmas tree and presents line. It has a more of a vintage theme to it, and I am absolutely in love with it. You can get it at Two Peas.

Another amazing line is by October Afternoon. They are probably my favorite manufacturer. All of their stuff is amazing! I think I may just freak out when I get my hands on their Good Cheer Line! It is my absolute favorite line of this season. I'm a sucker for pink and teal. And this line has it all. Another kind of vintage theme this line is darling. You can check out October Afternoons entire catalog here. If anyone knows when and where I can get my hands on this please let me know!!!

I also went scrapbooking the other day and got 2 layouts done. One is for Pink Sketches next week and the other I will post later in the week. I just have to take the time and take some pictures of both of them.

Have a great day! Hope you enjoyed my ramblings! What are your Christmas scrapbook must haves?

Pink Sketch #10

Another new sketch over at Pink Sketches. I really took a very simple approach to this one and had a lot of fun! It's also our first week with a guest designer!

I have not had much time to blog or scrap in the past few days because my work schedule got all crazy, but things are back to normal now I am heading to scrap at my LSS tomorrow! I hope to get a lot done. I need to take the time to go through my stash tonight and get organized. I always get there and have no idea what I am going to do and then end up buying a ton of stuff I really don't need. So I am going to try and get my ideas together tonight.

Also don't forget tonight at midnight EST is the start for registration for Jessica Sprague's Stories In Hand Class. Don't miss out it's FREE!!!

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Today...

I took inspiration from Ali Edwards Document a Day in Your Life Series and made this with Photoshop. If you haven't checked out Ali's blog yet make sure you check out the series, it is amazing!

This Sunday....

I am off to go to work for the day. If you haven't been over to Pink Sketches make sure you check it out. A great new sketch and the guest designer winners have been announced. Here is my layout for Sketch #9

I also took the time the other day to start decorating the dress forms I got at a local scrapbook store a few months ago. I am using acrylic medium and 2 inch paper strips. I am loving how it is coming out so far. I just can't decide how I want to do the skirt yet. Don't mind my messy desk.

Sketch #9 Preview

I finished my layout for Pink Sketch #9 yesterday. I usually don't scrap at home, but it was different and a good thing because it forced me to use my own supplies. It's a very simple layout, but I like it a lot. Here is a sneak peek. Make sure you check out Pink Sketches tomorrow for the launch of Sketch #9 and the announcement of the Guest Designer Contest.

Flickr

it's an obsession. Flickr that is. If enyou don't have one get one. I can sit on there for hours. Too many hours. Looking through all the photos. Photography fascinates me. Getting to see so many things from so many perspectives. It is stunning. The best part of Flickr are the differt groups. There are thousands of them. So many different subjects. You can find a group for just about anything you could ever imagine. Each group has their own topic and then everyone uploads their pictures relating to that subject to share with everyone.
A few of my favorite groups are
  • Canon Powershot A560 - this is the camera I have. It's fun to see all the different pictures people have taken with the same camera as me. Just do a search for your camera. I'm sure there is a group for it!
  • Craft Rooms - Oh my this groups is amazing! Seeing all the different craft rooms/art sudios! It makes me very jealous!
  • Scrapbook - Share all of your scrapbook creations!
  • My Chihuahua Is Cuter Than Your Chihuahua - So much cuteness here!
  • Document A Week in The Life - This is Ali Edwards group following her series A Week In the Life. Check out her blog, it is an amazing project. I am thinking of starting one.
  • Chicago - Since going there I have become slightly obsessed.
I am in the process of redoing my flickr page with just photography. Check it out and add me to your flickr friends. I would love to see your flickr pages! Leave them in the comment section!

Pink Sketch #8

Pink Sketch #8 is up over at Pink Sketches I had a great time working on this layout using pictures that I took from a trip to the cider mill last week. I used Cosmo Crickets Mr. Campy Line which is actually camping paper, but looks great in a fall layout because of the wonderful colors. The chipboard owl is from Maya Road. I covered it with Mr. Campy paper and then made my own eyes and mouth. I might add some journaling to it later, but for now I think it looks great.

Tips on Taking Pictures of Your Layouts

One of the first things I learned when I started posting my layouts on the internet is..... a horrible picture can ruin a beautiful layout. I quickly learned how easy it is to make a picture of your layout look just as good as the real thing, without using a $500.00 camera or a fancy scanner!

I take all my pictures with a simple point and shoot Canon A560 camera. I got it for around $150.00 at Target about a year ago, and it is one of the best cameras I have ever owned.

Here are some simple steps to get a great picture of a layout using your own point and shoot camera.

1. Go outside. Natural sunlight is the best place to take your picture. Even if the sun isn't out the natural light outside really helps.

2. I usually alway leave my camera on the auto setting, but one thing I do change when I take pictures of my layouts is the macro setting. It usually looks like a little flower on your camera settings. Just hit the button and it should turn macro on. I find it to be great for really showing detail work in a layout.

3. Set your layout on the ground. I usually put a scrap sheet of 12 x 12 paper under it just to keep it protected from any dampness, dirt etc.

4. Stand directly over and about 6 inches away from the bottom of your layout (so your feet aren't in the picture), hold your camera directly over the layout pointing at the ground. Now usually I don't zoom in that much because I use photoshop to crop my pictures, but if you don't want a lot of surrounding background in your picture make sure to zoom in and crop the layout using your camera zoom.

5. All that's left to do is snap! Instantly you should have a better than average picture of your layout.

Here is a layout I took a picture of yesterday morning.

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants All Fall Collection
Rub Ons: Scenic Route

I hope this little tutorial helps some of you out. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you A.S.A.P.

Fresh Start

I took some time and cleaned up the blog. Nothing drastic, Im still working on it. I took a lot of stuff off moved some things around and made a new header. I'm not sure how long it will last I liked it a lot better when I was making it, now I'm not sure. Anyway I'm starting fresh with new layouts, pictures, everything. I'll add things more throughout the week, I just don't want it to be too crowded.

Now in Scrappy news..........

I never posted my layout for Pink Sketch #7. So if you haven't seen it get over to Pink Sketches and check it out. Tomorrow will launch another sketch!

I have quite a few new layouts to post, I just have to take some pictures of them when the sun is out today. Hopefully.

So since I didn't take any new pictures of the new layouts I decided to give the whole digital scrapbook thing a try again. I actually really like how it turned out. I used a Harvest Spice digital kit from ShabbyPrincess.com. They have some great free digital kits to download. If you haven't visited them yet make sure to check it out. So here is the layout I created using Photoshop Elements for Mac and the ShabbyPrincess Kit.

Just something quick and fun. I enjoyed making it. Something out of the box that I haven't done in awhile and it's always good to have a challenge. Hope everyone has a great Saturday, I have to work unfortunently. See ya tomorrow with some new layouts.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I have been so incredibly busy lately. Doing what? I really have no idea. lol. I've been working, working, sleeping, dealing with allergies, and fitting a little bit of scrapping book in. I actually for the first time scrapped at home! I know that sounds really strange, but I never ever scrap at home. This week I actually took some time sat down and completed one layout and started a little homemade mini chipboard album.
I got the idea for the chipboard album from my LSS when they had a free make and take for their customer appreciation sale. Here's what I made at The Scrapbook Tree

and here is my own little mini album that I started

It's something that is really simple, easy and quick. I still have to add pictures, embellishments and finish it up, but I think it is a great start.

I'm headed off to a 8 hour crop tomorrow night so I hope to get a ton of stuff done. I really want to get some layouts done to submit for publishing. I still have a million chicago pics to scrap and a ton of other great moments as well. Have a great Thursday!

Holiday Weekend

The holiday weekend is over, and it was back to work yesterday. YUCK. I didn't do much over the weekend. I worked on Saturday and Sunday then had Monday off. I took a trip to Michael's and went out to lunch with my Aunt and super adorable cousin. Michael's had 4 for $1.00 paper and from what it looked like in the paper I thought It was going to be all new. Well I got there and it was all the same old junk! I got a few American Crafts papers and that was about it. I did take some adorable pics of my cousin. I can't wait to scrap them. Especially this one.

How cute is that? lol.

Also a big thanks to everyone who has given me The I love your blog award. I promise I will take the time in the next few days to post it and nominate my own 7 blogs.

Well that's all for today. I'm hoping to get some scrapbooking done in the next few days, but we will see what happens. On Saturday I am going to my local scrapbook store where they are having a customer appreciation day. 20% off your entire purchase, free make and takes, and a ton of giveaways. Hopefully I win something. I am also still on the hunt for the new My Mind's Eye and October Afternoon, hopefully I can get my hands on it by the weekend!

Pink Sketches #3

I have been a super bad blogger the last week. I just literally have no time to do anything. I've been working way to much and scrapping way to little. So expect a lot of fun treats in the next few days.
Pink Sketch #3 is up at Pink Sketches. I absolutely love this sketch. Die cut paper is all the rage these days, and I really wanted to incorporate into the sketch. I think it turned out great. Make sure to go to Pink Sketches and participate with Sketch #3.

Scrapbook Wish List

Here it is again another one of my scrapbook wish lists. It really is never ending!! lol. What's on your scrapbook wish list?

October Afternoon Good Cheer Collection - It's kind of vintage/shabby chic Christmas, and completely adorable! I also love their other lines that are coming out soon!

My Mind's Eye Be Merry Collection - When I get my hands on this one, I am getting every single sheet! This is beyond adorable. It combines two of my fa
vorite things, Pink and Christmas.

Studio Calico - I've never tried a kit club yet, but I'm seriously thinking about trying it out. The September Kit preview of Studio Calico looks amazing, and I think it would be a super easy way to shop fo
r new scrapbook supplies. Everything matches and I'm not hunting around for things that coordinate.

If anyone knows when the new October Afternoon and MME collections are shipping please let me know. And also let me know if you are a member of a kit club? How do you like it? Any recommendations?

Scrapping Shopping Spree

I have bought waaayyyy to many scrapbooking supplies over the past week. lol. I just could not resist all the new paper lines that are coming out.
On Monday I went to Archiver's and got a ton of the Moda Bella line from American Crafts. I also got some embellishments and some Thickers to match.
Then yesterday I went to Paper Tales and got the new owl Maya Road chipboard, and a few papers from the new Basic Grey Ambrosia line. The colors on this line are amazing. Great for fall, and nothing like I have used before.
So after Paper Tales I headed to The Scrapbook Zone. They were having a HUUUGE Freaky Friday sale. All pattern paper was 20 % off and cardstock was 4 for $1.00 plus a ton of other great goodies. So I stocked up on some more new lines that I have been wanting. I got a ton of Basic Grey Eva. And I got all of Pink Paislee's Pop Fashion collection that I have really been wanting. I also got some extra of Pink Paislee's Vintage Moon and a few other misc. papers and embellishments.
So now I REALLY need to start croppin with all of this. lol.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and make sure to check out Pink Sketches tomorrow for the reveal of Sketch #2. The DT did an amazing job!!!!

Chicago Pics

Here are some more pictures from my vacation. I'm planning on uploading them all to a mac gallery so you will be able to see all of them.
The weather in Chicago was absolutely beautiful. 80 degrees and sun the whole time. The highlights for the trip for me were:
1. Walking the lakefront
2. Museum Campus (Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum)
3. Millennium Park
4. Navy Pier
5. Windy City Scrapbooking
So here are a few more of my favorite pics

I'm Home!!!

I'm back!!!! The trip was absolutely wonderful. This was my first time in Chicago, and it was AMAZING! I had know idea how beautiful it was there. There is so much to see and do. I did make it over to Windy City Scrapbooking. It was a great store with super nice employees. I stayed there for about an hour and just walked around and around. lol. I didn't spend too much, but I did get some great patterned paper.
I have about 200 emails to go through and a ton of things to do for Pink Sketches so I'm going to keep this one short and blog more about the trip later. I'll leave you with a few pictures. Tons more are coming I took 250 of them!

I'm Off.....

I'm heading to Chicago at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning blog buddies. I can't wait to take lots of pictures and scrap them all. I will not be taking my laptop with me, so I will have no access to email or the blog. I did however find a very cool way that I will be able to communicate to you all. It's called Twitter. It allows me to text message a short comment and then will post it on the blog. Well at least that is what it is suppose to do, lol, we will have to wait and see if it really works. So I will post the little twitter box on here.

Drumroll Please.....

The announcement has been made, I have chosen the Pink Sketches design team! Head over to Pink Sketches and congratulate the talented team. Congratulations girls, I can't wait to start creating with you.

In other news, I got an email last night from Two Peas that Pink Paislee's Vintage Moon Collection was in stock, so or course I had to run over and pick it up before it sells out. I got 6 sheets of the patterned paper that has the little owl on it. It is truly irresistible. Isn't it darling? You can pick it up at Two Peas.

Only 2 days til I leave for Chicago, check back on the blog tomorrow so you can find out a cool way you will be able to share my chicago experience with me while I am gone.

Summer Vacation

Today is the last day to apply for the Pink Sketches Design Team. You have until 10 p.m. EST tonight to email me your application. After 10 p.m. I will begin the very tough process of choosing the team. There are almost 80 applications as of right now. I should have a decision by Friday at 8:00 A.M. EST. So make sure you check out Pink Sketches for the BIG announcement!

My vacation from work has officially begun. 10 days of pure joy. Yesterday I spent time with my family. I went to visit my baby cousin and also my aunt and other cousins. We had a great time at the park (the same one I played at as a kid). Nothing brightens a day like this little guy. Here's us on the swings. I took 60 pictures today, I can't wait to get them printed and start scrapping!

I also want to congratulate my Aunt Karin on the opening of her Etsy shop Wild Woman Art
she's just getting it started, but if you get a chance check it out. She has handmade chakra bracelets and art dolls!
